About Us

Our Story

Atheneum Cider was founded by a wife and husband duo who decided they needed to introduce some excitement into their boring, suburban lives. Beginning as a side-project done between brewing batches of beer, it didn't take long for cider to take over all of the kegs in their kegerator.

With only two of them drinking the cider, the kegs weren't being emptied fast enough. They began to share the cider with family and friends, but that was still not putting a dent in the backlog. With an abundance of cider waiting to be kegged, they began inviting their neighbors to grab a glass whenever they wanted one. Eventually, word spread and more people began talking about their creations.

Brennan

Brennan Couey, most people just call him Couey, is a Co-founder and the Mad Scientist of Atheneum Cider.

Couey has been brewing beers and ciders since 2012 and it doesn't appear that he'll be stopping any time soon.

He is a technophile who has worked in the IT field since 2010. This passion started while working on his family's desktop

Brennan Couey, most people just call him Couey, is a Co-founder and the Mad Scientist of Atheneum Cider.

Couey has been brewing beers and ciders since 2012 and it doesn't appear that he'll be stopping any time soon.

He is a technophile who has worked in the IT field since 2010. This passion started while working on his family's desktop when he was 10 and eventually led to him working as a System Administrator for a large, international company.

When he's not making cider he's spending time with his family, learning how to cook vegan meals, and playing tabletop games (mainly D&D).

Lizzy Couey is a Co-founder and Queen of Marketing at Atheneum Cider.

While she may not be the Cider Daddy, Lizzy is running most of the behind the scenes activities. From social media to filling up the event calendar, she does it all!

She has been a Realtor since 2018 and is looking forward to adding this adventure into her repertoire.
